The ships were burned on June 13, 1929 and the article was published June 23. Richmond Beach boat burning by Nieder (or Neider) & Marcus, ship brokers, to salvage metal and materials. Huge crowds lined the uplands for hours watching the vessels burn to the water's edge. Newspaper photo of Villard and Seattle-Tacoma Flyer.
